Brainerd Area Coalition for Peace met on Monday, November 6, 2023, via Zoom. Attending were Doug Olson, Larry Fisk, Gayle Nielsen, Holden Hollister, Judi and Richard Schiller and Dean Borgeson. Old Business:                Reviewed Adopt a Highway clean-up which took place on October 14th. Good weather and everything went well with 12 bags of garbage picked up. Next pick-up will be in the spring.                Performance by Paul Baker, Nicaraguan singer/song writer on October 23rd. Attendance was small but about $100 was donated to help Paul’s work.                Vigil in support of Palestine 2-3:30 on Saturday, October 28th. Nine people participated. We were surprised and pleased with the positive response.  Discussion followed regarding the situation in Palestine. There has been outpouring of support for Palestine, nationally and internationally by citizens, but our elected officials are unresponsive.   New Business:                Brainerd DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) is planning a holiday social for Saturday, December 16th from 11-2p.m. The social will be held at the new DFL office and DSA has asked if we would co-host the event. Questions arose about the space, what would be expected of us, and other issues. Decision was tabled until next meeting after we get more clarification about the event. DSA has a meeting Tuesday, November 7th so those of us in attendance at that meeting will get clarification                Discussion of BACP/BLUE merger was discussed. Meeting times will be 7 p.m. on the 1st Monday of every month. Zoom meetings until further notice. A discussion regarding handling of web-sites and list serves ensued. Dean and Richard will work this out and let us know. Richard is working on a new logo to represent BACP and BLUE.                Dean will host the next zoom meeting, so submit agenda items to him.
